SheDoll’s July 2024 Soft Silicone Release: Evaluate the Claim, Specify the Version
Softness, recovery and tear resistance are separate claims that need different kinds of evidence.

In July 2024, SheDoll announced a revised Soft Silicone option. The company described improvements in softness, recovery and tear resistance compared with its earlier material. The post did not publish numerical measurements or a complete test method. It is a record of the manufacturer’s claims at release, not an independent assessment of durability or proof that every later material with a similar name is the same formula.
Keep the properties separate
A material can be described as softer without that description establishing how it responds to every kind of handling. Ask which property matters to your decision and what information the supplier can provide about it. A pressing demonstration may illustrate a visible response, but it does not measure tear resistance or predict service life. Treat each claim according to the evidence offered for that particular property.
Identify the version in a current quote
Manufacturers can revise materials while retaining familiar option names. Ask for the full name and current version of the selected material, especially when comparing older stock with new production. Record the body, surface finish and weight option alongside it. This avoids applying a historical description to a construction that was not actually the subject of the announcement.
Request a representative demonstration
If a visual comparison will help, ask the seller to identify the samples and show them under the same conditions. The sequence should make clear what is being compared and avoid changing several factors at once. Ask whether the sample represents the proposed finished configuration. A small test piece can answer a question about a material while leaving questions about the complete assembly unresolved.
Read the care document before deciding
Obtain the approved handling, storage and cleaning instructions for the exact material and finish. A softer option should be chosen with a clear understanding of those requirements, rather than on appearance alone. If the instructions refer to a maintenance product, request its precise identity and relevant restrictions. Do not substitute a recipe intended for a different formula or an unfinished sample.
Keep expectations proportionate
A dated release note can help trace a product’s development, but it cannot establish how an individual item will age in a particular setting. Ask for current terms covering the delivered configuration and retain the agreed specification. SheDolls has not performed a material test. The useful decision is a documented choice whose claims, operating requirements and unresolved questions are visible before purchase.
